What was going on in your head during the activity? Why do you think we did this activity?

During the activity i was really bored and i didnt really get why we had to do this exercise. I also had no idea what we were supposed to have learned from this exercise until you told us. Also, if we are doing this exercise as practice for copying something exactly, then why couldnt we just start with ropes and not move on until every1 got it right and understood how to do it (like the rope jumping exercises) and when someone did it wrong, you coud just demonstrate what would have happened to the knot if some1 put their weight on it.
I was initially really REALLY bored, but as teh activity progressed, I began to have fun. It was somewhat hard, but really showed other people's personality and their quick attitude or laziness...
yea it was interesting i guess. a little boring tho. but what made me a kind of irratated was the people at the end. its like they did really care about anyone. they were just like oh this is stupid.
I think that Johnny Whoops was a good activity to do in a class like this. It was an introduction to what we have to do later on: pay attention to details. When we are tying knots and watching our fellow peers climb thirty plus feet in the air, we have to pay attention to the details because our well being could be at risk.
I thought it was fun watching people attempting get it; I had fun getting it right. It is a good group activity, especially for a class like ours, where teamwork and cooperation are needed. And positive attitude would be a fantastic plus, too.
I thought the game was fuuny and I learned a lot about paying attention to small details and that it is ok to make mistakes. Also, I was hard to do the activity in front of everyone, so I learned confindence.
I thought "Johnny Whoops" was a fun activity because it brought out people's personalities. There were people who kept trying consistently until they finally got the trick and then there were those who knew the trick but were too lazy to step up until the end of the period, which I thought was really interesting. This activity was good for our class to attempt because it taught us to be very attentive to the details of people and their actions.
At first I had no idea what exactly we were supposed to do, but eventually after paying more attention, I caught on. It was fun to figure it out. I think we should do things like that more often and add more detail where we will have to pay attention a lot more so that some people in this class will start to participate and maybe even take the class seriously. Honestly, if you're not going to participate or take anything we do seriously, then you may as well drop out. You are just ruining the fun for everyone else who actually signed up for this class willing to take on team building and leadership and the fun of Outdoor Adventure Class.
During the activity I was alittle embarrassed and I didnt feel comfortable getting up infront of the class. Im normally not very shy but the way we were all sitting didnt feel easy to act infront of everyone.
I did like the activity though and it was good to learn about paying attention to details.
I actually liked this activity because it was fun to figure out what was going on and it made you think a little, but the people at the end were kind of annoying because they weren't even trying.
Honestly I think the activity didn't teach me much. I get the importance of detail, and the significance of this exercise, but I think it's something very different from tying a rope that will hold someone up above the ground. I know that if/when I tie the rope, I won't be thinking of Johnny Whoops.
I think when safety comes more into play, people will step up. Nobody could have gotten injured if Johnny Whoops hadn't gone successfully.
I DO think that the activity helped more with self confidence/being able to stand up in front of people more than attention to detail. You could tell who didn't care if they messed up, and who did. Activities like this help people feel more comfortable.
During this activity I had a lot of fun, mostly because I already knew what the idea of the game was. Also I didn't want to go first to do it because I was afraid that if i messed up I'd get laughed at, and I wanted to give people a chance to gethe idea of the game.
I personally enjoyed the game. I did this game last year and it was so hard for me to understand but then i finally got it ... when i did it this time it was a major flash back i forgot for a second but then it came back to me i was still a little nervous trying to do it in front of everyone...... *~BUBBelz~*
During the activity, I was trying to figure out what people were doing with their fingers but then I realized I wasn't getting the big picture. I wasn't paying attention to detail and I think this activity taught me that I shouldn't focus on just one thing, I should look at everything as a whole. *Stargazer*
The very first time i saw what we had to copy i noticed the cough right away, but i wasn't sure if it was on purpose or not. When i saw that no one was getting it right, i decided that the cough had to be a part of it. I kind of wanted to keep waiting and watching people until i was positive that i had it right, and i really had to pay attention, although it was funny when people didn't.
My biggest fear is probably getting up in front of a big group of people while all eyes are on me. I've played the Johnny Whoops game before and I knew how it worked but that didn't make me want to go first so I didn't. It was a fun way to spend the class though. brown eyes
i really liked this activity because it looked really easy to do but when you tried it, it was wrong. i liked how you really had to think and pay attention to details. i was also afraid to stand up in front of people because i hate doing that.
i was just wondering, does any1 else actually read the comments that other people posted? Also, in rollerblading, i really dislike the wrist guards. the helmets r ok, but i dont like the wrist guards. though im probably putting them on wrong or something...
I've played the game before, but didn't even realize that you can change it up anyway you want, so it was interesting to look for what Mr. H did. Other outdoor adventure classes said their teacher kept changing it up so it was alot harder, glad you didn't pull that one on us Mr. H!
Johnny whoops was kinda strange but I understood the point of it and stuff. You had to pay attention to what was happenig, you had to pay attention to detail mostly.
I thought this activity was sort of interesting. I was very confused in the beginning, but as more people demonstrated I understood what was going on. I think this was an important activity because it proved that we have to pay attention to little details. Sometimes you have to look deeper than just the big picture.
rollerbalding todal was fun however one thing i would like to see is hinojosa do the rollerblading with us instead of just riding his bike along side us the whole way.

P.S.- does any1 know what this is? ¥ or Ç or ╞ or Θ or ⌠ or ╒ means?
oh yeah, btw, next time we do the mile can we... A. not do it on a day that i have a physics test next period (was the last test of the quarter) and... B. do it when its not so-dang-cold out?
It's a 'game' I that I learned in the third grade, so I knew what was going on pretty quickly. It kind of took away the whole point of the exercise which was to observe and pay attention to others.
ya michelle here from 6th hour! wutz up? ha ha we have a better background than u lol.j/k j/k oh btw y isn't the hw up yet?how are we supposed to do it if there isn't any.
As soon as you did the johnny whoops thing, i knew i heard it before so i knew what to do. I think we did this activity in order to get some people to stand up in front of the class who didn't want too.
Johnny whoops was an good activity that taught me to pay attention to the small detail in a person and also it showed most ppl personalities because many ppl kept trying it over and over again until they got it right which is a good example to the rest of us
I have been teaching since 1995. I started teaching at Winston Campus Junior High in Palatine. In 2001 I began teaching at Fremd. I am an assistant golf and wrestling coach. I have also coached boys gymnastics and I was a sponsor for Powder Puff Football and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am the 4th child of 5, 3 older sisters and 1 younger brother. I am married and I have two great boys 2 1/2 year old and a 5 week old. Chase and Brody. I love it when I come home and chase yells out "DADDY" and has a big smile on his face and is coming to hug me.

Johnny Whoops was amusing, eventually, but i can't say it was much of anything more than that. Just a briefly interesting way to take up the period.
-anthropomorphology
johnny whoops was a good game that made me pay attention to what people were saying and doing.
